Currently there are 2 methods of gaining endorsement to provide intravenous Conscious Sedation in Australia.

The first is to complete the Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Conscious Sedation and Pain Control) at the University of Sydney. This is a two-year, part time program run out of the IV Sedation Department at the Westmead Centre for Oral Health.

Following completion of the Graduate Diploma, graduates need to apply for Endorsement to provide Conscious Sedation through the Dental Board of Australia.

The other is to apply directly to the Dental Board of Australia for recognition of an alternate (equivalent) training program. This training program needs to be an equivalent of thee Grad.Dip.Clin.Dent.(Conscious Sedation and Pain Control)USyd.
